What makes a good landlord?

Good landlords just do a little extra, go “the extra mile,” to do things right the first time.
Set fair rent. It’s okay to charge what the market will yield (if your property is above market value) but never overcharge.

Reward on-time or advanced rent payments (even a nice Thank You card will suffice). Good landlords know their tenants. Nothing beats being friendly and helpful whenever possible (and within reason).

Available to tenants “around the clock.” It is annoying when a property manager does not get back to you promptly.

Good landlords know how to build value and trust. For example, if the screen door needs replacing, some landlords will install it for free, if the tenant (who caused the damage) pays for the materials. Being a good landlord often means "just being there when needed" - when you need help most.

Below are some frequently asked questions related to using the maps.

How do I move around the map?
There are 3 basic ways to navigate around:
1) Click on the main map and drag the map around. When you release the mouse button, the map will replot any points and possibly gather new points for display.
2) Use the arrows on the top right of the map which move it approximately 1/3 of a map width/height per click.
3) Click and drag the little blue square in the bottom right of the map. The square shows the area of the map in relation to the larger area and allows bigger movements.

Moving hints:
If you want to move a large distance very quickly, it can often be easier to zoom out, drag the map and then zoom back in.

You may find the map slows down a little while moving or even stops. This occurs if a large number of points are being plotted, especially in Internet Explorer. Just leave the map for a few seconds and it should start to respond again.

If you want to center the map on a particular place (especially before zooming), double click on that location and it will move to be the center.
